since we are picking and choosing lines:
-- Expenses (R&D, excluding in-process R&D, plus MG&A) in the first quarter of 2001 are expected to be down approximately 15 percent from fourth quarter expenses of $2.4 billion.

as far as amd, I am not sure I have more info than you. They might pre-announce as well or they might not. What we do know is that their spending is less than intels.
