Quamnet News Service
The mobile telecommunications joint venture company between Pacific Century CyberWorks (0008) and Australia's Telstra Corp. will bid for a third-generation license in Hong Kong, said Linus Cheung, vice-chairman of PCCW. Regarding the requirement for 3G license operators to open up 30 percent of their networks, he didn't give any comment.

Concerning the sale of 7.5 percent PCCW shares held by U.K.'s Cable & Wireless, Cheung said C & W already announced that it is not in rush to sell the shares, and the sale of those shares will be conducted in an orderly manner. When asked if its Network of the World (NOW) and interactive television unit iTV are going to merge, he said further announcements will be made on March 28.
