Krispy Kreme Plans to Build New Manufacturing And Distribution Facility in the Midwest

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., March 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. (Nasdaq: KREM)
announced today that it has submitted an option to purchase approximately 34 acres in Effingham, Illinois with
plans to build a state-of-the-art 187,000 square foot manufacturing and distribution facility. Approximately
47,000 square feet of the facility will be dedicated to the blending and packaging of prepared doughnut mixes.
The facility will additionally provide 116,000 square feet for a new distribution center. Effingham was selected
due to its proximity to major highway and rail intersections. The midwestern markets, as well as the western half
of North America, is expected to be served from this facility.

"Our continued sales momentum, penetration of new markets and accelerated pace of new store openings will
outstrip our capacity to provide mix to our system by next year. This new plant, to be completed in the first half
of next year, will triple our capacity. The combination of this new mix plant and new equipment manufacturing
facility in Winston-Salem will provide the infrastructure to support our growth for the next several years," said
Scott Livengood, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer.

Effingham Mayor Robert F. Utz stated, "The City of Effingham has been working with Krispy Kreme for several
months on the location of a mix and distribution plant for their products. We are extremely proud to have been
selected as the site and welcome Krispy Kreme to Effingham. We know by our association through this process
that this will be a great addition to our economic base."

John Tate, Chief Financial Officer and President of Krispy Kreme Manufacturing and Distribution, added, "We
are very excited about this new plant. Not only will we be positioned closer to most of our franchise customers,
but this new facility will allow us to maintain or improve our unit cost as soon as we begin operations."

Hey Glady, it's been long time.

Yea, I remember those "luxury short" claims & dog fights...
Only a few die hard shorters are still holding on to this from 10s and 20s (pre-spilit).

What do you know, KREM is cheap again, now in 30s.<gg>
After few more splits, KREM (KK) could even be trading in 20s.
Maybe I should buy back few shares again.

Still munching those donuts by the boxes...
