LG Electronics reported on Wednesday that it has established a joint telecom company in China, which will manufacture CDMA (code division multiple access)-based terminals and systems.

For the venture, LG has joined forces with three local Chinese companies to establish the company located in Shandong, China, and capitalized at $2 million.

In a related note, LG also signed agreement to set up a joint company with a unit of China National Posts & Telecommunications Industry Corp. to conduct R&D (research and development) for new CDMA handsets and telecom networks in China.

Meanwhile, China Unicom, the largest CDMA mobile operator in China, is scheduled to conduct a public auction to select network providers next month.
