ike, gold has underperformed for decades. which doesn't mean it can't overperform now. but a commodity like gold, whatever it's virtues, doesn't build an economy. and despite the recent problems, we still have a great economy. so since i'm now a long term investor primarily for tax reasons, i am going with what i believe in wrt the future. my biggest concern now is yhoo and what it suggests for the new economy heading forward. perhaps it only speaks to its sector and the company itself. perhaps it speaks to something more fundamental about the new economy. that is what i'm unsure about right now.....
