The elites in Europe are obsessed with the fact that some American states have the death penalty. The average European has mixed feeling about the subject but the elites are in lock step and using the issue whack us on the head with. Bush is not impressed. Mr Bush grew exasperated during the election campaign over what he saw as the obsession of European journalists and officials with the death penalty.
