that stuff happens to everyone.

i just finished downloading and installing xteq

xteq.com

it looks like a major piece of software to be adding to a system, and naturally i had my concerns about stability, as i do with all software installs. i did everything by the book, to the best of my ability, and xteq launches without a hitch and i'm fooling with it a few minutes. then i figure i'll reboot and see if everything starts nice and clean.

uh oh

black screen with only these words...

NTLDR is missing
press any key to restart

huh? never saw that before. i tap the space bar (any key).

same message....

NTLDR is missing
press any key to restart

more tapping of space bar... more of the same message

NTLDR is missing
press any key to restart

hmmmmmm. what now. then click! a little light bulb goes on

check the floppy drive.

yep! i had left a diskette in there from earlier today.

NTLDR is missing press any key to restart must be the win2000pro equivalent of non-system disk error on startup. <g3>

pull out the floppy, press any key, off to the races.

and here i was having all sorts of visions about how that darn xteq had screwed up my stable os!!

good thing we choose to smile at these things, eh?

:)
