My cautious comments only apply to the very short-term. Just as yesterday's strong XAU signalled this morning's jump in POG, today's weak XAU probably means a significant pullback this afternoon or early next week.

<The XAU is flat this morning despite the jump in bullion prices. Does suggest a short-term top has been seen.>

among those up that XAU isn't catching today are
PAAS
KGC

ECO

IMO XAU is the wrong index to follow right now. There are too many "insurance" (i.e. hedgers) in that index. How would they benefit from a spike in gold? The answer is that some may actually be hurt. The real gold index is HUI, and it is nicely in gear with this move.
