Scumbria,

I received from very bad news out of the UK last week...

What tax cut did you have in mind - there have been so many tax increases recently (substantial, but well hidden).

The $1.6 trillion one.

How can the UK have a $1.6 trillion tax cut when the governments total income is only about $600 billion?

Perhaps there is less to worry about than you thought in the UK.

"Total public spending is expected to be around £394 billion next year, around £6,500 for every man, woman and child in the UK. It is set to rise to £418 billion in 2002-03 and £443 billion in 2003-04.
...
Total receipts £398 billion
1 Includes capital taxes, stamp duties, vehicle excise duties and some other tax and non-tax receipts (e.g. interest and dividends).
