below is JJ of Salomon. Notice that he gives full credit for Intel's problems to amd. The problem was just "exacerbated by the very weak PC market". And hence amd is the main reason...
He also noticed that his target of $40 makes pe in the range of 50+

"* New competition at the high end. AMD's (AMD-$26, 2S) Athlon is giving both the high-end PIII and the P4 a run for their money. For the last two quarters, AMD's average speed grade has been higher than Intel's average speed grade, though its average price has been half that of its cross-town rival. Pricing was never an issue for Intel as long as it provided a higher speed part. Now it is a problem, exacerbated by the very weak PC market. As a result, we are taking our assumptions for Intel's blended average prices down from the low-$180 range in Q4 to the mid-$170 range this quarter."
