LOL (Jorj himself knows he is an expert on the airy stuff --GGG)

The reason I am not a big aficionado of gold is because for a time I spent a number of sessions "exchanging ideas" with the gold bugs... (Some extreme Randians are really scary at times).

The scenario for gold to really take off the way some of them suggest entails either a total collapse (or nearly so), of the world financial system. I used to subscribe to the "Dimes Letters" (if I remember well, he was some sort of super gold bug in the days of $800/oz.)

In those days they were talking about financial collapse and remember we were also going to run out of oil. Ah yes, I remember reading about the "Seven Sisters" (all the evil oil companies MOBIL, TEXACO, EXXON, SHELL, BP, AMOCO. Hmm I forgot the seventh ... FINA CONOCO, ELF-AQUITANE I forget ...?)

While the scenario was not pretty, there was never a collapse. True, one must take defensive action (i.e. sell short, sell calls, or covered calls, or whatever), but a total collapse ? I am sorry I do not subscribe to such.

It is true that the current energy picture does not bode well for basic costs of industry and we may pay in terms of inflation. But we must also remember that the other major cost component is labor... and in many industries, it is UNSKILLED labor that is needed... Well, the third world is filled with eager beaver cheap labor that many companies will use.

Again, I am not saying that we will be out of trouble in less than 6 months, indeed many if the Internuts will actually die (if they haven't already).

But I do not believe we are facing a depression of catastrophic proportions. There are lots of people who will continue to work and will seek to be fed, sheltered, etc etc etc ....

Politicians will have to change the way they do things, but again... no catastrophe...

If I am wrong.... well then, I will meet you at the mission, I will be selling some soup, you can pay with some gold coins -GGGG-

Btw.... there is hope -g- ADBE is UP .50 @ $27.625 (after a low today of $24.625 (this with the DOW down better than 200 pts... and the NASCUAC off by better than 105.

p/e for ADBE = 24.5

You are very nice for your comments about my presence here, and if you get enough in form of collections, don't forget to get a bottle of champagne and celebrate your profits today. -g- Really, Thank you for your comments, they are appreciated.

I really look forward to getting back and re-join this fine thread when I come back.
