It is quite good to see a young man participate in the arts, and that his father enjoys going the extra mile (several hundred extra miles in your case) to support him. What sort of works does your son's group perform? Do you ever get to the Washington Chorus? I haven't yet heard the group, but it must be a lot better than I had thought. My Washington associates tell me the Chorus just gave a performance of Orff's "Carmina Burana." That is a big, challenging work to pull off properly. The conductor needs to be something of a madman to do it right in my opinion. Wish I had heard it. I like to see a good madman now and then. I finally made the rounds to all the major NYC museums and I think I am getting a bit more (GASP) liberal (**GASP** **GASP**) in my outlook because I very much enjoyed everything I saw. I have always enjoyed modern works, even minimalist and postminimalist works, but during my last visit I found I quite preferred them over the older works. I am about to abandon film viewing once again. I am tired of having to fast forward a film whenever it appears sexual intercourse is imminent. But have you seen the film "Pollock?" I have not, but I hear Ed Harris turned in a good performance. I would love to see it. I've always liked Ed Harris. I think he has far greater range than, say, "Russell Crowe," and yet does not get as much attention. If you've seen it (and I am nearly certain you have) briefly describe for me those things about the film that would offend my Puritan sensibilities. Hope your weekend is going well.
