The only reason it gets what it does in Santa Clara is a result of the wealth effect. That comes from loose monetary policy. FED doesn't think they were loose. They only let M2 grow at excess of 10% for years, but Greenspan thinks that doesn't matter and Friedman said the FED was doing a good job. After complaining for decades that excess money growth caused structural economic problems Friedman says FED is doing a good a job letting money supply grow at an unprecedented rate. What are imbeciles all over Yahoo and SI saying? FED needs to create more money!
