RockLobster, Just a few quick thoughts. . .

First, you could be correct that I am looking at the glass as one-tenth full, rather than nine-tenths empty.

Second, as a general rule, I am not looking for regular 4DMLs. . . .mainly because it makes little sense that enough longs would be margined in techs here. . . so there is nothing to squeeze. . .

Yes, there was a gap up on Tuesday, which would mark the initial day. But neither Tuesday, nor Wednesday had a significant squeeze in the final 2 hours. . . perhaps because there is nothing left to squeeze. Thursday didn't really squeeze either. So already, too many rules have been broken to qualify for a 4DML.

The rules that make up the 4DML are quite strict and simple. . . stretching them to make a situation fit dilutes this study, which has proven many times to be an accurate and consistent barometer, for which to measure manipulation.

I appreciate your comments and concerns.

Actually, the only thing I would disagree with you is that the long 4DML was in its fourth day on Friday. It began Tuesday with a gap up and closed near the low. Friday's call after the opening gap down was premature and frankly there was no particular reason to make the call.

I also disagree with Rande's argument that there is no reason for the longs to be squeezed because "longs are no longer margined". That will be a great argument for calling a long term bottom but I am pretty sure that we are in no danger of that any time soon.

Having said all that, I would not be surprised if the market isn't oversold enough for a short 4DML to start Monday or Tuesday...

rocklobster, the potential 4DML that I mentioned is now evident. If it follows previous patterns, we may see a low today or tomorrow.
