Hello Jacob, first the cheerleaders said the Old Economy interest rate generated downturn will not effect the New Economy investment boom, and now you say ...

<<This downturn is specific to high tech and to manufacturing. I'm beginning to think we won't get a recession at all ... But, for hi-tech manufacturers, it's going to be a deep recession.>>

presumably meaning the massive losses (several trillion and counting) in the new economy will not affect Old Economy banking, credit, investments, etc.

There are no Old vs New Economy.

<<Unemployment steady at 4.2%>>

Nothing turns on a dime, certainly not the economy. Give it time for all the numbers to show badness, but at that moment, the stock indices will have "bottomed" already and resting on the _ part of L.

Should you invest the way you might if believing this view, the ride may not be pleasant ...
