I guess you never download or upload anything. I could never go back to 56K. DB

I got 56K and it really isn't so bad for web surfing. The fumbling by these telcos to get high speed access to residential customer will end if competition ever decides to move in IL. My relatives have @home and constantly complain about outages and poor customer service.

Our 192K DSL service at work was discontinued and I'm back to a 56K dial-up. It's driving me nuts it's so slow. I can't wait to get home at night to my cable modem.

Sold my BRCM on Wednesday - had held it for over two years. Bought NUFO, WIND and CIEN with a 10% stop loss. All three sold on Friday. I think I'm done with tech until I see positive signs of a turnaround. It appears to be farther off than I thought.

I still hold quite a bit of JDSU in my IRA. I still have confidence in it but will patiently wait to get even and then bail out back to a mutual fund. This is a great company but I cannot tolerate the volatility.

Joe

Jack...I have @home here in MIchigan. When first installed several months ago I had those problems
you alluded to but lately service has been excellent, only one short drop out several days ago and the speed has increased to the point a mega-byte per sec. is not unusual. When downloading megabyte files they just seem to speed by so fast I can't keep up with the visual display. I will admit I swore at them for a while but all is better now.
I had 56k modem and DirectDuo dish prior to @home. DirectDuo was fast but but weather constantly knocked
out reception so when @HOME became available I jumped at it. I also switched TV from Direct to Dish nertwork and have much better luck with it. So, in the last year I have tried them all except DSL which is not available to me because of distance from telephone switch station.
I hope the problems in Illinois will be solved and your relatives will love @home as much as I. Ken

PS Going to Manlius to see wifes relatives in 2 weeks. HUH? Where is Manlius? Near Princeton
off I80. Now you know, or maybe you already did??

I think the imbalance between the excess of backbone bandwidth and the shortage of last mile bandwidth will be addressed somehow. The business users are not enough to consume all that fiber lying around.
