Regarding the FED

In my honest and humble opinion, I truly believe that the fed can and will only lower interest rates by 25 basis points. Any more than that would absolutely devastate Japan, which just anounced that they're on the brink of bankruptcy. In addition, as Sharck pointed out, the unemployment was not as bad as previously thought. Greenspan's main concern is Japan and the impact of a 50pt basis cut on the world economy. He just can't Fu** things up more than they already are.

On another note, the astro for March 20 indicates that people will be disapointed, perhaps by the fed's actions. But, as always.....only time will tell. Good luck to all.

Sharck, I think the unemployment numbers are going to be misleading for a while. I am sure you are well aware of the numbers of people that are being laid off right now. I would say that a lot of those are people who had decent jobs and probably have a little money to live off of while they look for something else. Thus, they won't be finding their way to the unemployment lines just yet. I myself could do absolutely nothing for income for the next year and be just fine and I won't be standing in any unemployment line. Once those job cuts start trickling down to lower wage jobs, I think we'll start to see those unemployment numbers rise quickly. Just another perspective to be aware of.
