One of the things that came out of the tech bubble is that people have forgotten how hard it is to create an honest to good $1-2 billion dollar company (be it in market cap or sales). For a while just registering bubblegum.com allowed any joe to go public with market cap well over a billion, but when the dust settles there will be very few left standing.

The same happened during the software growth period in the 80s. Very few software companies made it past the billion mark and remained there....
