The SEC will soon introduce the open order book system by which all orders (big and small) will be instantly displayed so that the middlemen that keep trading ahead of the small traders, at a cost to the latter, will not be able to squeeze others. The big brokerages are revolting, but they cannot stop. I think, online trading and virtually free flow of information has devoured many brokerages as smaller traders keep quite a pace with the big guys. You thus have a point.

I think they will continue to kill anything that stands for change and loss of power at the core. I think they will do whatever is within their power to continue with that mission.
