Eddie Futch on Mosley.

"There are certain guys who did this or did that better than Shane does," Futch said. "But for the whole package, top to bottom, I haven't seen many better. He's coming into his peak now, and for the next couple of years you could see this young man really put on a show."

"Shane is right up there with all of them," said Futch, 89. "He just needs a little more experience. But he has what it takes, without question.

"He boxes well. He kind of floats around the ring. He has a good jab, he knows how to set his punches up, he punches well with both hands, and he uses the ring well. Probably the most important thing and the thing I like best is that he thinks well."

"He also, in two fights, couldn't knock out - couldn't knock down - a waning Evander Holyfield"

i'm surprised that you would bring that up. i presume you're talking about lewis. but you might as well be talking about tyson. am i right?

"No; someone gently awaken kindly old George Foreman and remind him that in the day of television, network deals, promotional contracts, etc - it's not as simple as one, or both men, simply "signing" for a bout."

are you telling me that you think george foreman is clueless about "television, network deals, promotional contracts"? the man works for HBO today! and he had how many professional fights on TV for promoters? traveled all over the world fighting in how many venues after having signed more contracts and been a part of untold number of negotiations? and you try to dismiss him as "kindly old george"? george might be old, but your analysis of 1912 and bareknuckles misses the mark. george is very much about modern boxing and promotion, every nuance of sport, in fact. today's sport. that's why he's on the show. if he was as you've portrayed, he'd be in a rocking chair somewhere and guys like jim lampley would not be holding a microphone in front of his face asking for his thoughts. and you've said as much yourself, 5. you've often remarked about foreman's astute observations. don't suddenly ridicule him simply because he thinks your favorite fighter is ducking a fight and is going to lose if he does get it. that doesn't make sense.

"ROFL - GMAMFB. Foreman saying that makes it so?"

naturally, no one saying something makes it so. (no more than you calling mike tyson "a ring monster" makes him one.) but we do tend to quote boxing people here on this thread to add validity to a position. and i wasn't quoting the ring announcer, or a cornerman, i was quoting george foreman. there's considerable ring savvy there, much more than you are caring to admit.
