Tim Luke Petition to Unsuspend Him

Started By: Patricia
Date: Mar 11, 2001 3:32 AM
After reading many posts here on SI, there are a lot of people who do not want Tim Luke suspended any longer.

This petition is here for all of you to vote for his release.

I have started this thread which is directed to SI Admin (Jeff).

I am requesting that you let Tim Luke, posting presently with the name "Outlaw Josey Wales" out of Silicon Investor Jail by lifting the suspension you have on him.

Thank you for giving your attention and time to this matter.

Okay now...bob, sam, Tony, Jane, Win-Lose-Draw, rowrowrow, HandsOn, MechanicalMethod, CatLady , Anthony@Pacific, Jack Hartmann, Jenna, and all the rest of you which names I am too tired now to post.

Lets show your support here, and just do not say yes or no. Try to form a complete sentence to make yourself quite clear to the Silicon Investor powers that be.

I am also making a request that you do not discuss why Tim Luke was suspended. This thread is just for your votes only. Please do that on other threads. Just keep it short and to the point.

As you can see, I made this a moderated thread. I haven't really thought about why I did that, but it might be necessary somewhere along the line if you do not keep this thread for the intention I had in mind when I created it.

Now let this thread ROCK and ROLL.

Two important things:

1. If people have not seen the new Market Gems thread header, take a look immediately. It is basically an admission by the subject of our thread that our complaints are valid and actionable. It is a fascinating turn and confirms that the pressure we have brought to bear is hurting people where is counts...in the pocketbook.

2. If you are an SI member who has in the past paid a membership fee, and you are disgusted by the atmosphere of advertisements and outside pay sites that have now infested SI, you are absolutely justified in demanding your membership fee back...especially if you have been a member for many years, as I have. I joined SI precisely BECAUSE it was an ad-free environment, in contrast to almost all other chat sites. When I joined in 1997, posts blatantly pointing readers to outside pay sites were immediately deleted, and the atmosphere strongly discouraged intentional, repetitive promotion. Now, however, this is not the case; SI has become exclusionary...not only do many of these posts direct readers AWAY from the SI community, but the rise of "moderated" threads has completely altered the open atmosphere that used to exist and made SI unique.

Because of this, this website bears almost no similarity to the one I paid a fee to join several years ago. If you feel the same way, you have every right to demand that SI change, or refund your money. I strongly encourage everyone to do so.
