Enigma,

What is commonly performed is a 4 point step rate test. You put a pressure recorder in the hole and then run flow tests at four different rates starting low and ending high. The response of the reservoir can be modeled on pressure transient computer programs to figure out permeability, porosity, reserves, etc.

The longer the tests at each flow rate the better for science. with gas at $12/mmbtu though, don't want to burn too many $$$ testing. Plus enviro-nazi's don't like flaring (they lights electricity in their houses though and gas in their mercedes).

When its all over you do a build-up to see if the pressure recovers back to where you started. If it depletes in pressure during the test significantly - trouble. If it comes right back to initial - excellent.

Also need to see how water yield stabilizes, get a chromatograph so you know the liquid content of the gas and whether or not it has any nastys in it (H2S, CO2, RSH, etc.)
