That's the fundamental worry with any stock purchase, isn't it? Watching the chart action would be a way to answer that question. That's a reason LEAPS may not be the best strategy, because it implies absolute faith that buyers will show up.

Do you really think that investors that got badly burned this past six months on Dell, CSCO, SUNW, ORCL, INTC, JDSU, T, LU are going to jump on AMAT's bandwagon because AMAT is having a good year?

I listen to many people who worry that tech valuations will never rise from the current doldrums again. This is simply ridiculous; as if the predilection of human nature toward greed had been repealed! Human beings are magnificent in their ability to adapt, and quickly too. In a few years we will see an entire new generation of investors throwing caution(and fundamentals) to the wind, along with some of the ones who were burned during this past downturn.
