I'm not talking about Arafat. I'm talking about our moderate Arab allies in the Middle East and North Africa. We offended them by bombing Iraq and by Powell's overture that we might move our embassy to Jerusalem. We are we going out of our way to antagonize our Arab friends in the Middle East, who, by the way, control a good chunk of the world's oil reserves. I have been very unimpressed so far by Bush's understanding of the nuances in the Middle East. I'm not sure this administration is capable of friendly persuasion.
