Ted Re..Yes, it is when its at the expense of the civilization of which you have chosen to be a part.<<<<< How would it be at the expense of civilization? Talk about exaggeration. A tax cut would simply reduce the amount which is taken from one segment and give it to another segment. It hardly harms civilization. Besides, the people on SS generally are richer than the people paying it. No one has said to give the gov't a blank check but too many want to cut for the sake of cutting without fully exploring the consequences. <<<<<< The other side is that politicians are always talking about cutting SS and medicare because they know the people generally favor them. But there are plenty of pork items which could be cut and no one would bat an eye. Cutting out corruption in gov. could easily pay for the tax cuts. Every day, in my business I have to keep my expenses in check so I can make money.. In construction, price is everything; and you don't make money by being inefficiesnt and wasteful. But yet, according to you, we should be silling to just throw our hard earned money at gov. no matter how much corruption and waste there is. Why do I have to watch every penny, and yet I am supposed to just throw my money at gov. without demanding the same of them. Does that make sense to you? It then seems that to maybe justify these great expenditures, we than shortchange our own less fortunate, creating the extremes of great poverty and great wealth in this country.<<<<<<< I would be willing to bet that less than 5% of the budget goes to help the less fortunate, unless you are trying to call SS and Medicare programs for the poor. It probably cost us more for corruption than it costs us to help the poor. I have no problem helping the needy. It is all of the other waste that is the problem.

No desire to keep what your own wealth is not greed. Yes, it is when its at the expense of the civilization of which you have chosen to be a part. Our civlization is not in danger from this tax cut in fact in some ways it will benefit. Even if there is a net loss (and IMO there is not) you are not taking from others when you get a tax cut you are stopping them from taking from you. Or for that matter you can even give it to charity or invest in and create new jobs, either of which might help society more then the federal government spending it. And yet weren't you a proponent for increasing military spending? Can't have it both ways. Military spending has been slashed all ready while other areas of government grew enormously. I am a supporter of only modest increases in military spending. "The non-gun murder rate in Japan is also much lower then the non-gun murder rate in the US. Japan's culture and society is different, as are their law enforcement practices." What's different are their gun control laws...they are much more restrictive. There gun control laws reduce the number of murders with knives, clubs, and poison? Tell that to the parents who just lost their kids to guns. The greater the number of guns in our society, the greater the chance of being shot.....just standard mathematical probabilities. Its not as simple as addition. Most guns never are used to shoot anyone. Most gun owners never shoot anyone. If someone tries to shoot me and I have a gun my chances to get shot go down. This can also apply to other people that are with me. It matters who has the gun. Guns in the right hands can make things safer. They frankly admit that they don't care about other people and do not want to have their $$$ fund programs that provide $$$ for unemployment, food and shelter for the homeless etc. These are the Reagans of the world who released the mentally incompetent on an unsuspecting population in the 80's. We continue to bear the unpleasant consequences of that act. Social spending exploded under Reagan. Thats why we has such large deficits. He never tried hard to restrain it and when he made half hearted efforts they met with no success. No one said to ignore the Constitution when it becomes inconvenient. The Constitution was written over 200 years ago when slavery was permitted and women were not allowed to vote. Times change and the Constitution's appropriateness may change as well.....requiring updating and amending. While I would be against any such ammendment, controling guns after the reapeal or modification of the 2nd ammendment would at least respect the rule of law. Tim
