I confirmed that the info in this e-mail is true.
What info did you confirm as true?
Was Gustavson a JEDEC Director? Or was he an Officer of the SLDRAM. (Synchlink), consortium?
It also appears this was a synchlink consortium meeting, not a JEDEC meeting.

Hi vc21; About patents and JEDEC...

While I'm not an expert on patents, I would like to note that there is a significant difference between Rambus' behavior and that suggested by the Yahoo post. Rambus wishes to charge very high royalties, while Micron &c. allow the use of any of their SDRAM patents for free, as far as I know. The JEDEC rules do not state that there can be no patents, but instead that any such patents have to be available at a reasonable and fair price.
