Bilberry - Those sentiment surveys haven't been all that reliable lately. The AAII (American Association of Individual Investors) runs a weekly survey on their website. The results since early Dec. have been quite "mixed", and from more than one weekly survey, you could have expected a rally -- but it didn't happen. I think it will take longer this time for the market to make a sustainable recovery. Any short-term rally is just going to end in more selling by fund managers. Too many people are scared and want their money out of the market. I DO think we could have a short-term rally soon, however.
