Marantette also believes that this is a short term rally, about to end. Each rally that has occurred with runup in lease rates has been brief, and difficult to trade. However, the gold funds and indices have done fairly well this time around, and many gold funds have moved up above their 200 day MA, and short term averages have crossed over above the longer term averages, suggesting more longevity and a more sustained move. Maybe what we need is a gold rally without sharp runup in lease rates, which might lead to a more orderly and hence more sustainable rally. I personally find it hard to believe that we are not in a recession already, but I guess we'll have to get the
numbers retrospectively and find out.
