re: plush offices @ amzn. i always wondered why perennial money loser biotechs had the plushest buildings and offices.

there is a reason. amzn wasn't about selling books and these bios aren't about developing drugs. well, at least that wasn't there #1 priority. theei #1 priority was to part money from investors.

the "look" is what is being sold. you don't go to an interview in cheap clothes to prove you are a frugal manager. you strap on the $2k suit and the rolex.

i'd say those plush offices did the trick - they were worth beeeeeelyuns (apologies to dr evil).

it is the antithesis of how my conservative nature would run a business, but maybe that is why i don't have anybody throwing $$$ at me so i can burn it up ;-)

btw, glenn, did i tell you my local sears store matches any internet advertised price? if they want my business, they *know* what they have to do b/c i'm not nearly as ignorant as before. i'm their worst nightmare. more and more folks are becoming like me.

the net is a consumer revolution, not a business revolution.
