Chay, yes, Japan looks ready to sink beneath the waves...this has all the hallmarks of capitulation-in-progress. i was frankly surprised that the Hang Seng has held up so well thus far...i guess with the Yen diving the HK currency board will soon be busy fending off hedge fund attacks again.
as for gold, the question is how much ammunition have the CBs really left? the biggest gold holders official policy is that they won't sell...and no-one knows how much gold has really been lent out, but it is probably quite a lot, somewhere between 12 - 17,000 tons. another free lunch coming to an end methinks.
