What's that? RE: "communication business is that in February "some one turned off the switch, and all new orders stopped abruptly." Yes, I know, I saw one channel go dry, but this channel had good reason to go sour (because the VCs were throwing too much $ down it, so they built it upon false dreams) and you could see that coming in Dec (same channel that Cisco got hit with, according to their warnings, but the extent that they got hit, surprised me). One of our channels, the main one, so far appears to be good (and I'll know definitively mid-April, but so far it continues to look good). There are some reasons why it would continue to be good, but by mid-April, we'll know for sure "how good." Prudence would caution for conservatism since all industry sectors are getting hit, not just high-tech. I mean, even Target warned about a 20% drop in revenue. RE: "I hope that the CPU business turns around sooner, since the customer CPU inventory problems are less severe" Me too. RE: "Intel stock price probably will probably not return to its highs for 18 months." I tend to agree with you. RE: "For Cisco the old highs will not return for several years." I think Cisco was incredibly over-valued. RE: "The era of extreme optimism is over for several years. The sky highs PEs" And may it never come back. I think we could do with less irrational exuberance and irrational gloom. A bit of moderation is healthy. RE: "New Economy companies are also cyclical, perhaps even more so than the Old Economy." I tend to agree with you. RE: "Until the market bottoms I shall keep my fingers crossed. " How low can it go? I think Silicon Valley will have some issues in about 6 to 9 months, when the new-crowd VCs start showing their pain. Some VC firms are sitting on a lot of money and doing very good, but I'm hearing the new-crowd VC firms aren't (because of the dotbusts). There's nothing worse than hearing about a VC firm stumble, especially a large one, because they can take down their portfolio companies, even solid ones, which just makes this spiral more. Regards, Amy J
