scott..."new economy" predictions by any economist, regardless of conventional or cutting edge, are at the best inaccurate.....review greenspans humphrey-hawkins testimony for the last several years...his assumptions on forward growth and inflation are more then 30% off...difficult to fine tune an economy with such an inaccurate forecasting ability...couple this with stale or less then real economic data compiled by the fed government using samples and finite surveys and the results are a disaster....insofar as larry summers, if he believed in something, whether part of the administration or not, why not voice it instead of collecting his government check...the fed government should oversee and control the fed reserve...but you need a more astute secretary of treasury then summers... in light of the reality of an economic slowdown, it becomes imperative for investors to consider profitable companies in growing sectors with seasoned management....
