Yes, but ...

Current approach is dual chipset ... this will continue it ... then multi-mode.

Agree we'd all like to see the mult-mode chipsets ... crawl before we walk.

is it possible that this 6000 chipset would enable a US traveler to use their CDMA cellphone in GSM land? Could this be the first toe to enter the previously locked continent?

Remember in Europe they call their cell phones "GSM". Monsieur et Madame Premiere Rue do not know that their thinking is confined to the "GSM" box.
I well appreciate the genius of IJ. Perhaps this could be the much needed first step in paradigm busting at the consumer level.
