U.S. Accident Bombing Kills at Least 5 People in Kuwait

NEW YORK, Mar 12, 2001 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- A U.S. Navy f-18 fighter jet
accidentally dropped a bomb into a civilian crowd in northeast Kuwait on Monday,
killing at least five people.

CNN TV network quoted U.S. defense department sources as saying that the
accident occurred at 730 Kuwait time in the northeast corner during a joint
training exercise with British and Kuwaiti forces.

Pentagon confirmed that at least one bomb had been dropped, killing at least
five people, four of them Americans. In addition, four people had been injured,
two of them having been treated and released from hospital.
