Mary,

Engineers may fully understand the minutia of microprocessor technology, but an understanding of markets, market size, and marketing are completely different subject matters.

I predicted on this thread three years ago that Intel's relationship with Rambus was going to be a big disappointment, and I explained exactly why. Is that considered processor minutia in your book of sarcasm?

Intel has been talking up IA-64 for many years now, and have no products to show for it. It might happen, but I don't see that IA-64 has any significant advantage over anybody else. The tool chain alone makes x86 the architecture of choice for the indefinite future.

good idea. By then Warren Buffet will still be the richest and most succesful investor of all times, Intel will still be at the forefront of technology, AMD will own a couple of exhibits at the Boston computer museum, and the other Mary (Meeker) will be listed in the Guiness book of jokes (A.K.A the thread of clowns in SI)
