I had been lightening my oils for some time, but dumped my last remaining one (PGO) when I bought gold stocks big again last week. Sitting on gold and cash. I want cash to play any techs on capitulation down to 1500 (or lower) on the Nasdaq. I really think gold will be a great long term hold over the next 5 years.

We haven't seen the worst of it (economically speaking). It'll take time for the US economy and stock market to have an effect on the rest of the world and vica versa. The middle east and the oil rich nations will be the only ones with disposable income soon...and they just might buy gold to protect oil profits as Slider predicted months ago.

Have to believe Greenspan steps in and lowers rates soon just to prevent the markets from collapsing. The big question is will it be enough, but more importantly will any big rally from here off rates cuts really be justified long term? I think not. This fall we will re-test any lows made this spring due to tax selling and maybe make new lows if tech spending looks unlikely to rebound (now pushed back yet again by the ANALysts to Q1 of 2002.)
