re: Amazing the VIX refuses to go above 35-36, unlike 1998, 1997, 1987 etc..... could be that the new SEC regulations of disclosure of forward looking statements to all of the people removes one element of uncertainty (what will the next quarter and year EPS be like?) from individual stocks, thus emotional basis, lowering the volatility from what it might be otherwise.... although this is somewhat mitigated by a new uncertainty (will they issue new guidance today?).
