Robert:

"Two people, who are born different from you are I, who love each other, want to share their lives together, AND get all of the legal benefits afforded to others"

Marriage is an intrusion of the State into our lives. It exists and society supports it, not for the benefit of the participants, but for the benefit of children. Gay couples do not conceive children. As our society changes we may need to revise these views, but they were not created out of hatred but out of what is perceived to be best for society.

There is many a gradation between complete acceptance and total rejection. No one is saying they cannot share their lives. If they care to, and can find a minister, for example, in the Metropolitan Church, they can solemnize their relationship. If they care to, they can give power of attorney, each to the other, so that they are not excluded in important medical decisions. They are simply not married, and not automatically eligible for all possible benefits. You blow it out of proportion.........
