Glenn, do you think Bezos could be another Koogle?

Yes but not until they file Chapter 11. I have moved my prediction of a Chapter 11 filing sooner. I was initially expenting Chapter 11 to occur when Amazon could not pay its bills after Q4 2001. However, looking at Amazon's current inventory levels, I believe some vendors are starting to tighten their terms. I do not believe Amazon can get through Q4. They will not have inventory.

On-line selling is growing although not at the speed Forrester and others predicted. Penneys and Macys.com are really getting traction. The office supply stores such as Staples.com, Officemax.com and Officedepot.com are also growing well. The strongest performers now as growth goes are those that cater to high school and college age students such as the Gap.com,ae.com and fossil.com.
I believe footlocker.com will well also but not this year.

I am going to take a small position in BNBN later this year. I believe they will well in the US as the major media outlet on-line. Their expenses are in line for a normal anticiapted sales amount. Amazon's vendors no shipping this fall will cause many of their customer for the media products to defect to bn.com. I am quite sure of that. The "funny" part is BarnesandNoble.com will win this media outlet contest and be the only major player in that area left standing only due to very poor management at Amazon. BN.com has taken their losses in stride. They are no longer selling $1 bills for 90 cents and they are moving slow and steady with improving content and customer service. I expect them to be rolled into BKS as soon as the sales tax of all on-line sales starts to occur.

Glenn
