I'm not so sure it matters in relevant ranges. What does China really care from a strategic viewpoint unless Japan goes down so bad that they (Jap) start to think about WWIII? Now, oil and how that is priced will be important to them. There is a reason they have the Red Army in the Sudan on Arakis' old project.

John, interestingly, now that nobody's worried, or even looking, they may actually do it. Chinese devaluations were standard fare up until the '98 crisis came along...then China gained a lot of face by not devaluing, an important concept in most Asian cultures.

now we have yet another wave of devaluations across the region...and i suspect the HK currency peg will come under attack once again. it's really a very easy target. China won't be able or willing to hold out forever.
