Did anyone expect the dotcom madness to succeed? The medium is the massage. How swiftly they forget. Did you ever shop online? Did you ever click on a banner? Would you pay to view content? 1. The interface has to improve. (Netscape IE suck. Search engines cannot be searched for businesses. Speed sucks. etc etc..) 2. Easy encryption that people trust has to be generally usable. (It is not hard to write. I haven't the time or money to do it. 56 BIT code sucks shit! get real politicos. Get EFFIN REAL. Cut the gooses wings and pontificate on why it cannot fly! Jesus, help us!) 3. Payment schemes suck. They need to be easy, cheap and trustable. This is doable. People who have them cannot find financing. Banks will not co-operate. 4. Delivery is not trustworthy and the dotcom companies are not either. It is not easy to browse products of judge them. Big retailers websites suck. They think they are a glossy magazine. Not even with XML browsers, 24 inch screens and 10 meg connections. 5. The Internet is not a marketing medium. Duh. Jesus christ, did anyone think it was? 6. The effective bandwidth of the inernet is low. On top of that it is VERY POORLY DATABASED. IT IS AN OPAQUE MEDIUM. duh. Ebay works and usenet works. dotcoms don't. Nobody has fingered out why yet. It will take a while. You either understand the net or you don't. I am tired of telling people how to do it so I quit. d(f)uck it. I am going to sell all my computers and buy a turntable and listen to acid rock. At least it had feeling. EC<:-}
