Of course not and both should be forms of a hate crime. It doesn't matter who is instigating the crime, a hate crime is a hate crime. The Asians rape of the white girl is certainly a hate crime.

The other article is an example of adults preying on a child. By far the most common type of that crime is of an adult male preying on a young girl, but it does take on other forms. Any form of that type of crime is certainly hideous.

Ron:

"Just imagine the hew and cry if the girl had been Asian or Black and the perpetrators young white punks. Is she, an innocent young girl, any less worthy of our concern than Matthew Shepard, the best-known homosexual? Is the one any more or less a "hate" crime than the other?"

You have hit on something here. We have really come full circle. We have gone from a society that discriminated against blacks and others who were "different". Now it appears that most discrimination (at least in press commentary and politics) is against whites and particularly white males. Maybe we need a Union. :)
