It would be a waste to have our most talented people teaching third grade, or even high school physics for that matter. Teachers' salaries are generally reasonable. As for sports stars, well, it is an almost pure market situation. As the franchises profit from television rights and merchandising, professional athletes get their share for holding the interest of the fans. The stars, who ensure that there is enough attention to a team to generate enormous revenues, get remunerated accordingly. Only if we unfairly restricted the right of people to profit from their economic value to the concern would we cap salaries........

If it were up to me sports stars would make 50k a year and the best teachers would bring in 20 million. Now
THAT would be some kind of country!

Amen!
