a year ago, i thought of diversifying some of the tech gains into value. thought of just buying brkb (berkshire hathaway B), nah. who wanted KO, and AXP and all that insurance crap. DUMB !!
month or two ago, thought of buying UST - UST tobacco at 28, 7% yield, had run up from 16 or so. nah. rather buy more JDSU and SCMR. WRONG. UST 28 -> 32. SCMR 29 -> 16. DUMB.
Today's list, want to add FWC on a dip, TYC should be attractive on pull back on news of CIT buy. TYC 50 area, 18 pe, hmmm.
no snow here, just grey and large piles of white. think tEXAS man should send us all first class tickets to fly down there and help him cut the grass and build a box that he can't blow up.
Ron, good comparisons to mondays '87 and '01. yes, a 25% whack was like a super laxative, cleaned all the crap out in one day. this chinese water torture (niagara falls variety) is much more deadly. i suspect we will start seeing some positive actions by corporations, buy backs. this fukken FUD rule has corporate officials tongue tied in terms of any positive outlook and have to put forth EVERY possible negative guidance to avoid future lawsuits. larry

Gee, maybe it is time to start adding techs to our IRAs?
Now the question is which ones?
Gee whiz!
It is always something!

Dear Frusted ...

hate it bout the white stuff ...
hate it bout the market ...

love it bout the sunshine on my bald head when I went out on the "semi cleaned up" deck and had a large cup of java and a great BIG hunk of TexasSizedThickToast from a loaf of rasin bread I made yesterday ... note that I said I made ....
going to get the water fountain bubbling on the rear deck first thing today .....

fed some crumbs to a couple of the robin boids who will let me approach them up to within several feet ... hey .. they know someone as fat and old as I can't hurt them .... besides ... I have a nice smile ...... ggggggggg

You are VERY correct in your purchase of the QQQs
as you are nearly every time ...
one of my fondest hopes is that when I grow up, I'll be smart as you ......
and I mean that .... NOT joking ....

well, gotta go pick up a hired hand at 8:30 so better be leaving ...

catch you later this morning ....

Wishy-Washy market - which is good after the devastation of past few days. looks like tech bargains are being accumulated, but not with conviction. We might well see some shift from the old economy stocks that have remained high into the quality techs that have been ripped.
plays today that i like are: FWC on its dip to 13.50, SEBL, ITWO, SUNW, CSCO looking good for short term trades. Looked at chart of CSCO, boy is it cheap! might get cheaper, but boy is it cheap siliconinvestor.com glw very attractive here at 23-24, as it was at 30, 40, 50, and 60.
TYC should bounce back tomorrow or next day after predictable sell-off on news its buying CIT.
GE under 40 yest ! should have backed up the truck.
airlines off sharply on Delta's warning. like nwac near 20, and luv coming back into buy range in 16s: siliconinvestor.com larry
