Iqbal Latif's Global Market Review-----Is the dream dead!
13/03/2001

....I expect that 1180 support on SPX
to hold, this is major support on two year charts of SPX. It has been a resistance before and MAY now act
as a support.....

.............The worth noting fact is that this selling yesterday reflected a powerful unwinding. CSCO down 8.8%, QQQ down 6.2%, SUNW down 2.2%, Oracle down 7.3%, Intel down 5.7%,MSFT down 8.4%, Ciena down 14.1%, GE down
9.6%, Ericsson down 25%, JDSU down 3.1% The new economy dream denied! several negative surprises last
year helped derail the 'new economy'.......

....extended period of rate tightness and monetary policy tightness; energy prices stayed too
high for too long......; ... the presidential election lasted much longer instead of one, .....

Strategists and analysts are reaching a point of capitulation......... on the markets and on the stocks they
cover.,, ........... downgrades may now be a contrary indicator ...

It takes a great deal of strength to stand in while the markets fade, as they did in 2000. Yesterday, Cisco and then
Ericsson started the bleeding in technology. an unplayable selll off....

Certain high tech companies will never disappear: INTC, CSCO, GE, AMD, NTAP, ENC, PALM, etc., so I am placing my bets on the HIGHER GROWTH of these, currently PALM and NTAP which have also had lots of GOOD NEWS and lots of NEW SALES GROWTH DEALS which means the HIGHER EARNINGS like EPS GROWTH 498% for NTAP are all justified. These companies usually rebound the fastest, the rest all will also, but over the next 3 months, versus 6 months, versus 12 months, is how long you would have to wait for AOL to recover versus a shorter time frame for NTAP or PALM. Lets see if I am right again in 3 months or sooner. The thing that really bugs me is all the hype even now in the press about dot coms that never had a viable business model, that still get all the talk and hype, when they should have been ignorted from day one. This misplaces the focus of attention and with it, improperly detracts from the trust investors SHOULD HAVE in the solid high tech companies.
I am,
Truly your$,
