HS: Irene Ryan, of course. I didn't know Jill Clayburgh was in the show; then again, I'm not sure I knew who Jill was at that time, it must have been in 1976 or thereabouts. But it was magic...and my daughters were entranced. I believe the original can be seen on video, or perhaps I saw it on TV. I just know that I have seen it. Another fine play, though not a musical was A Thousand Clowns. Anyway, thanks for your post. I might've been up all night trying to think of Irene's last name.
