I've I've heard that several equipment manufacturers are buying back grey market servers and switching equipment. This is a big step in what you are describing in inventory value reality. If true it indicates that the companies are taking actions to regain pricing power in the next few quarters. Inventory valuation is one of the toughest things to swallow for management. No one likes lower of cost or market valuations and it's a place lots of shaky managements hide problems. Good point on write-downs. It is one of the best indications that they are looking ahead and not covering their asses. MT
