Because hate crime laws are now an international issue, either you take a stand against cultural and racial hatred, or you say that you will tolerate it. It would be the first time in history that a civilization issued a strong NO to cultural and racial hatred. It would also add years to some sentences. Hatred towards other groups/nationalities/religions has been a major cancer on this world since the beginning of time. It is time to single this cancer out, and punish those who's life's mission is based on hatred of others. Go ahead and hate others because of their culture, or race, or religion, but act out on your hatred and you are going to be seeing four gray walls for a long time. OTOH, what type of a message are you sending to our country, and the world, when you say that acts of racial or cultural hatred, against others, are not important enough to enact laws to prevent them?
