Yes, on both counts. It's the kind of job where you make delicate adjustments with 12-pound sledgehammers. <g> I led units with M1's and M1-IP's, not the M1A1's. The Army let me go during the great post-Desert Storm drawdown. If you think the tech layoffs are bad today, try going from 850,000 to 500,000 in one year as the Army had to. (I've hung on to my reserve commission, though - Just In Case.)

Total non-sequitur - when I worked at AMAT's Austin plant five years ago, I saw the highest concentration of Service Academy (USMA, USNA, USAFA) graduates I've seen anywhere other than the academies themselves. You may celebrate USMA's 199th birthday this Friday, the 16th ...
