John ---Good afternoon ---No I made the decisions on my portfolio and accept the results . The real issue is that it is hard enough to find the right companies with the right product with the right management to make you investment dollars grow .
Then you throw in the FED who raise rates for .8% year over year increase in inflation due to oil prices ( By the way oil is still at 28.00 a barrel with OPEC cutting production again this week ) it becomes much harder to make investments in the market place . The people at the FED say they are responsible for the economy and inflation but is it not ironic that the FED follows the bond market on interest rates except when they want to jawbone or be noticed . As an institution it is time to to retire the group and provide some fresh thinking on how to manage the economy ---just my two cents .
John , on the overcapacity issue I find it suprising that the whole technology gambit ( PC's , Telecom , Cellphones etc ) was basically off by 25% on the demand side for this year ? What does that say about the industry management missing expectations by that much ? Of any industry that should be able to do real time forecasting on sales you would think it would be this group . I understand the economy cool but 25% is a big miss .

Still long tech

BEST WISHES
BILL

OT ---Did you see the issue on buying drugs in Canada last night on TV ? A website call www.canadadrugstore.com will sell and ship a drug such as Lipitor to anyone in the states at .72cents on the dollar for the same identical product ---same as mailorder . The FDA tried to shut them down but several Congressman step in and stop the FDA . Amazing that drugs made in the USA can be sold that much cheaper in another country and the drug companies still make a profit . No wonder seniors are having problems paying for their medications

John,

When you look back to the 12 month period between mid-1999 and mid-2000, the economy was growing faster than it could sustain. As an example, PC sales were growing at a 30%+ clip, far above their average yoy growth rate of about 17%. Same thing was true for the rest of technology, sales were growing way above their historic rate.

Why should the Fed interfere?
